LimnoTech Vice President and Senior Environmental Engineer Scott Bell has been invited to speak at the American Public Works Association (APWA) Michigan Chapter 2019 Great Lakes Expo in Gaylord, Michigan. The gathering will offer two days of presentations on a number of topics relevant to public works and infrastructure issues.
Scott’s presentation is titled “PFAS: Like Nothing We’ve Seen Before.” He will be presenting in the Operations Area, from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, May 23. Scott’s presentation will provide a brief overview of PFAS, poly- and perfluoroalkylated substances that are increasingly recognized as a source of environmental concern in communities throughout the U.S. Scott will explain what they are, where they come from, and why they are unlike any other class of chemical contaminants we’ve had to deal with to date. The presentation will also include an update on PFAS regulatory activity, and a discussion of new scientific developments that could affect how we respond to PFAS in the future.
Scott has been helping LimnoTech’s clients face water resources challenges for more than 27 years. His areas of expertise include environmental investigation and remediation, hydrogeological studies, and engineering feasibility studies. He is currently leading LimnoTech’s PFAS response for industrial, airport and other clients.
