Lukas Vander Linden will be presenting with Amanda Zander of Delon Hampton and Associates at this year’s World Environmental & Water Resources Congress on a mobile application that was developed to track DC Water’s Downspout Disconnection Program. Lukas will discuss the modernization of DC Water’s “Drain the Rain” tracking program, which was undertaken to disconnect downspouts as part of DC Water’s Clean Rivers Project. The mobile tracking application uses ArcGIS Collector and a suite of Python libraries to track, manage, and report on all aspects of the program. Benefits of the application include real-time tracking from the field and office, reducing errors, reducing demand for GIS staff, cataloging photographs, integrating with existing GIS, and communicating with residents.
The conference takes place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 3-7. The Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI), a recognized leader within ASCE for the integration of technical expertise and public policy in the planning, design, construction, and operation of environmentally sound and sustainable infrastructure impacting air, land and water resources, is sponsoring the conference. This annual conference gives attendees an opportunity to network with industry leaders; browse hundreds of exhibitors showcasing state of the art products; interact with leaders in the profession; participate in the policy dialogue on water resource and environmental issues; and learn about the latest trends and techniques being applied in the industry.
