Derek Schlea and Chelsie Boles will be contributing to the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) 2019 Annual International Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts from July 7-10. ASABE 2019 provides a forum to expand awareness of industry trends, promote and acknowledge innovations in design and technology, and provide opportunities for professional development with an overall focus on the economic, political and societal impacts facing the agricultural industry.
Chelsie will be co-moderating Technical Session 313 titled, “Modeling of Water Quality and Hydrology” on Wednesday, July 10, from 7:30-10:00 am. At 7:50 am she will also deliver an oral presentation titled, “Development and Utilization of a SWAT Watershed Model to Evaluate Benefits Associated with 4R Nutrient Stewardship in the Western Lake Erie Basin.” LimnoTech’s Derek Schlea and Todd Redder are co-authors for this presentation. Chelsie will also participate in special meetings related to the “Guidelines for Calibrating, Validating, and Evaluating Hydrologic and Water Quality Models” initiative by ASABE members.
Derek has been invited to serve as an environmental industry representative mentor during a speed networking event between industry and young professionals and students that will take place after the Sunday, July 7, evening welcome reception. He was also invited to be part of an expert panel for Technical Session 117 on Monday, July 8, at 11:00 am titled, “ABE Curriculum and Industry Needs in Ecological/Water Resources: A Panel Discussion.” At 11:30 am he will also give an oral presentation titled, “Foundational Skills Needed for a Successful Engineering Career: A Consulting Industry Perspective.” Derek also sponsored and will be moderating Technical Session 210 titled, “Advances in Applying and Evaluating Hydrologic and Water Quality Models” at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 9.
