Advancing the Science – 2024 Peer-Reviewed Publications!

January 14, 2024

Since our founding in 1975, LimnoTech has been proud to contribute significantly to scientific knowledge through our work. Our mission is to:

  • Do innovative and impactful work
  • Work with great people
  • Restore and protect the environment

As a water science and engineering firm, we have always valued, encouraged, and supported staff in collaborating with academic and agency researchers to publish their work and contributions in peer-reviewed journals, as this exemplifies our mission and values. Publishing in peer-reviewed journals is a crucial part of scientific advancement. It serves to disseminate knowledge, foster a culture of rigorous scrutiny, and progress the collective understanding of the scientific community.

Six peer-reviewed papers published in 2024 (also listed on Publications & Presentations) reflect our staff, clients’, and partners’ innovative, bold, and collaborative work and commitment to regional and international science. The publications help advance the authors’ respective areas of expertise and research for the benefit of the scientific community and the environment across a range of topics:

  • SARS-CoV-2 detection in wastewater collection systems
  • Innovative approaches to stream surveys
  • Method evaluations for microcystin quantification
  • The role that dams and reservoir operations may have in climate adaptation
  • How the “ecosystem approach” – a strategy for managing land, water, and living resources holistically – can be applied in the modern world
  • Using advanced and emerging technologies for Great Lakes adaptive ecosystem-based management

Congratulations and gratitude to our partners, clients, and LimnoTech team members, James Hartrick, Carrie Turner, Anthony Aufdenkampe, John Bratton, Michelle Platz, Ed Verhamme, and Sarah Jordan. Your efforts to publish your work in peer-reviewed journals are foundational to the scientific process, advancing collective knowledge and restoring and protecting the environment.
