Water in background with text that announces LimnoTech will be at the UN 2023 Water Conference

March 17, 2023

For the first time in almost 50 years, the UN 2023 Water Conference will take place at the UN Headquarters in New York from March 22-24. The conference has been described as a “watershed moment that will bring stakeholders from all sectors together and will create a global momentum for accelerated implementation and improved impact to advance the broad challenges surrounding water.”

The Conference is convened by the UN General Assembly and co-hosted by the Governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands. The focus is on “the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources for the achievement of social, economic and environmental objectives, the implementation and promotion of related programs and projects, as well as furthering cooperation and partnerships at all levels.” A key goal and outcome of the Conference will be “new commitments, pledges, and actions by Governments and all stakeholders towards achieving SDG 6 [Sustainable Development Goal 6: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all] and other water-related goals and targets, compiled in the Water Action Agenda.”

Several of LimnoTech’s Water Stewardship experts and team members (Wendy Larson, Laura Weintraub, Penelope Moskus, and Nate Jacobson) will be participating in the Conference. They are all looking forward to learning, contributing, connecting with many of our clients and partners, and meeting new people who are passionate about full access to a clean and sustainable water supply, environmental integrity, and creating an equitable future for all.

The Conference also features a number of high-level special events and side events organized by Member States, the UN system, and other stakeholders. Wendy Larson and Nate Jacobson look forward to presenting at the Launch and Workshop on the WASH Benefits Accounting Framework. LimnoTech is leading the technical component of this important effort led by WASH4Work, a multi-stakeholder initiative hosted by The United Nations Global Compact’s CEO Water Mandate to mobilize business action on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in workplace operations, in communities where companies operate, and across supply chains.
